Over 50 museums and galleries took part in the inaugural Show Scotland 06 which took place over the Bank Holiday weekend 28 April – 1 May.

The museums put on over 120 new and exciting events. These ranged from a Muckle Supper at Corrigall Farm Museum in Orkney, a Singles Night at the National Gallery of Scotland, Cocktails and Canapes at the Scottish Fisheries Museum and a late night folk night at the Scottish Mining Museum.

Over 52,670 visits were made to museums and galleries over the weekend – a rise of 30% from the same weekend in 2005 – and 16,149 visitors had great fun taking part in the broad range of timed performances and participation events that Scotland’s museums and galleries hosted.
